Last night I was at a bonfire, the last hurray before school starts. I was still there when pretty much everyone left. There was still a good handful of us there though. The night was pretty fun, but than all of a sudden the conversation started to become serious. Yup it was what I thought we were talking about religion. Now the people that were all from different churches. No two of us were attending the same church. We all had our own opinion about religion.
dictionary.com defines religion as:
a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.
Now that im starting to dive into the word of God it bugs me when people ask whats your religion? Yes I am a christian but no matter what "religion" we are we should all say WE ARE JESUS LOVERS. The one topic that came up with this whole religion thing is the topic homosexuality. People are all different some people take things more literal than others. Like me now im not a fan of homesexual people and don't encourage it. But as a JESUS LOVER we are called to love on people. So i love on these people as much as i can and pray that God will open their eyes to the sin there in. Whats your take on this? are you a JESUS LOVER?
Thanks for the inspiration. This has made me think about what it means to be a Jesus Lover.
ReplyDeleteIt is actually for this reason that I don't put "Christian" in my facebook religious views.
ReplyDeleteI think the amazing point you bring up here is that people focused on religion aren't thinking about their own sin and their own personal need for a Savior every day. We sit and point fingers at everyone else. One way we can really be Jesus Lovers is to appreciate what He did for us and to acknowledge that we ALWAYS need this in our lives...it helps us be better when loving others because we don't place ourselves higher on the "Sinning Scale" that we like to make up. Not everyone is like this, but those focused on the religion on Christianity aren't digging deep enough into the relationship that causes us to have that Jesus Loving attitude.
Very nice thinking girl.
