One of my prayers that i have been saying alot lately: Help me not confuse lust&love when it comes to relationship. Show me what true love is through an intimate relationship with you.
Recentally i read 2 Samuel 11-12 and 1 King 1-2
King David spots this young lady Bathsheba bathing. He than sends his servants to go out and get her. Let's first look at how Bathsheba would feel(What it would be like to have someone famous be interested in you.) Now personally i would probably have two things going through my mind: 1st-i would be starstruck 2nd-how can i dare refuse someone so powerful? Even though she had a husband she couldn't refuse his invite. Bathsheba went and she slept with King David even though her husband was fighting off at war. Now the first thing that went through my mind was what the heck is she thinking!? Our lives can change instant. Like in the story pretty much everything went down hill when they decided to sleep together. They had sex, Bathsheba got pregnant, King David had her husband killed, than their newborn baby died. Even though they made a horrible decesion King David asked forgiveness. God of course being the amazing guy he is forgave them and blessed them with a baby boy named King Solomon.
Now recentally i have made a bad decesion with a "relationship" i have with a guy but reading this story helps me remeber no matter what i have done, God can still intervene in my life by bringing something good.
My little prayer: Help me remember that no matter what happens, you can bring great things out of a bad situation.
Risky Sexual Behavior
In my life i feel like my "friends" put the biggest pressure about sexual activity with the opposite sex. Im pretty sure its same with everyone no matter what age you are. I feel that everyone struggles with this (Some more than others) I think my biggest problem was first that when my friends started this kinda stuff i didnt know how to help them with the situations they were in. Reading more into my bible i have come to relize that prayer is the best answer to help with them(1 Thessalonians 4:3-8, 1 Corinthians 6:15-20, 2 Corinthians 6:14.) So i dont end up in similar situations as them i need to form my ownviews of sexual purity. Draw the line Colossians 3:5
When i think of purity i think of the fear; how angry god will be with me, the fear of what my parents will think, the fear of pregnancy, and the fear of STD's. The whole purpose of purity is God's blessing to us. Its not God's asking you to stay pure as a mean trick to cheat you out of fun. Its for our own benefit!
The same goes for premarital sex. In today's society premarital sex is "acceptable" God has not changed his mind about premarital sex, his answer has been and always be no to it.
When you give it up your not just giving up your purity and your virginity, you also are giving up yourself respect, peace of mind, obedience to God, and the incredible experience of having sex with your husband: free of guilt, baggage, full of love, trust and joy.

ReplyDeleteI am so thankful you can hold tight to this fact about your purity. It is a precious thing, and it sucks to lose. Don't forget this. It rips you apart when you lose something that you have been fighting to keep for years, and you almost feel like God can never forgive you for that...you may not be able to forgive yourself.
